Partition Play at Triveni Kala Sangam
On 3rd July we went to see Triveni Kala Sangam Partition Play which was organized by Ashmita Theater.
This was the first time I saw a drama outside the college in an auditorium, Partition drama is taken from Manto's stories, directed by Arvind Gaur. I had seen a lot of plays during college, let's say after 6-7 years today again the old memories have been refreshed. So the play was supposed to start at 7 o'clock, but we reached very early because it was the rainy season so we didn't take the risk. I reached Khazan's shop at 3:30 o'clock it was still rainy. We left the shop at 4 o'clock and took a rickshaw and reached the metro. Khazan was talking about some business to his friend. We got down to ITO Metro at 5:40 pm, crossed the railway track on foot, and reached Tansen Marg, first we saw Shri Ram center, but the play we had to watch was in Triveni Kala Sangam. So we had reached our destination, now we entered inside and started seeing paintings in an art gallery where I found my Kirorimal college senior Kanupriya. I only told Khazan about her that he started talking and told her to subscribe to the channel, then we clicked the photo of each painting. It was still 6 o'clock, an hour was left, I told Khazan that let's eat something now. We ate fried rice and Manchurian only if it was Chinese.
And then we stood in line outside the auditorium, where we found an actor who worked in the Panchayat, Shrikant Verma. We got the photo clicked together and then we reached inside the auditorium, this was their first show after Lockdown. The show was houseful, we were lucky that we had got a seat because many people were still standing in the queue outside,
Well, after the speech of Arvind Gaur, the drama started, in which the mad men were to be transferred at the time of the partition, in which there were Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs and one was Toba Tek Singh. One was looking for a daughter, a father was looking for his Sakina, how a Sikh family did not forget to bring Sevaiya to Maulana's house on the day of Eid, and how mercilessly the people were beaten. How people were murdered, how women were being robbed in the name of religion, how Toba Tek Singh died in the middle of Hindustan-Pakistan border.
Play was perfect for us.
