Mehrauli Archaeological park
After our EID Vlog, we were now planning to visit the historical places in Mehrauli. I made the list of almost every historical place in Mehrauli with the help of Google. There were so many historical places like Mehrauli Archaeological Park, Jamali Kamali Tomb and Mosque, Rajon Ki Baoli, Gandhak baoli, Jahaz Mahal, Zafar Mahal, Hauz-i-Shamsi, Bhul Bhulaiya, Quila Rai Pithora, Hizro ka Khanqan and many others.
Firstly, we were planning to make our vlog on 18 May, then 19th May, then 20th May and after then, finally we decided to visit the places on 21st May. The reason behind the change of plans was Khazan's Health. For the last 3 days, he had fever. And we were not even sure about 21st May because Khazan told me that we will see in the morning, depends on the health.
Khazan got ready around 8:15 am, and he was waiting for me outside. I asked Khazan if he brought 'Parna' or not, Parna is like a piece of cloth or you can say a combination of 10 Handkerchiefs. He denied and told me that he has not bought yet, we will get one. So the sun was waiting for us to shower the heat on us. The temperature is 35 Degree already in the morning, who knows about the afternoon. We reached at Khazan's shop and we bought a 100 rupaye wala Parna. No breakfast, no juice yet. We reached Nangloi around 9 am. Khazan asked me to drink sugarcane juice, but i denied because i cannot drink it on an empty stomach. So we ate veg Biryani, Khazan left it in the middle, because of tez Namak in his definition. He drank Juice.
We were in the Metro now, and police were roaming around to charge fine from the people who were not using masks. Khazan told me that he will never give any fine to these policemen, even if he may sit with them for a day. It was a long way to go. We reached Qutub Minar Metro station around 11 am.
After reaching Qutub Minar, Khazan asked me to eat something, but there was nothing nearby the metro apart from Cholley Kulchey, tikki, burger and gol gappe. Khazan took out his Milton bottle proudly. Now Khazan asked me to take vehicle for the destinations. I denied and showed him the list and suggested to take the help from Google Maps.
Now we are walking, and Google is saying that your destination is 3.5 km away. From the roadside, we were looking at Ahinsa Sthal and Azim Khan Tomb. Khazan found the Mehrauli Archaeological Park written on a wall. Again, we are walking, walking and walking.
Finally, we entered the Mehrauli Archaeological Park (M.A.P). It was like an open field, like the fields in our locality. There were the plants of Roses everywhere, but there was no rose on them. Our First destination was Jamali Kamali Tomb and Mosque. We entered the place and we were welcomed by an annoying guard. We were not aware of this location. Now we were looking at the walls of this place, and it is shattered, no maintenance at all. We clicked some photos and made a short video. There was a very narrow stair. We used it and now we were watching the videos related to this place. The YouTubers has explained this place as a haunted place with the presence of Djinns. The Guard told us to come down from this place. We asked the guard in a very funny way. " Sir ji, yahan bhoot-voot rehte h kya?, koi Djinn dekha ho aapne kbhi?" He replied that he has been working here since 2014 and he has never witnessed any horrific incident so far. So either the YouTubers are lying or the Djinns or Bhoot were living at this place before this Guard was placed here. I asked Khazan to check some histrical update and accordingly make a video on it. When we were using our gimble to make the video. The Guard asked us to put our mobile phone down as we are not allowed to take any videos of this place. We asked him if there is anything written about it. He denied and told us that we should visit Qutub Minar or INA to take the permission to shoot the video. I was frustrated with his talk and said, "Abhi toh aapne bola video bnana bilkul bhi allowed nhi hai yha, aur abhi aap keh rhe ho ki Qutub Minar se permission leke aao aur aap keh rhe ho ki Masjid ki Chaabi humein Qutub Minar se leke aani pdegi..."
Waise ye jagah for sure Bhutiya hi lgegi raat ke samay!
Now, we were going to find some other monument. We found an abandoned Mosque , but we were not allowed to take any video or photo of this place. A boy from the Mosque brought water for us, his family is living here. I took a photo of Khazan with him. Meanwhile, Khazan forgot his parna behind the Jamali Kamali Tomb. We asked the sweeper about Rajon ki Baoli, he told us to take a route from Jamali Kamali, but we took another route.
While going towards another monument, I saw some people with camera in their hands so I chose that location. There was a pillar with the information related to the location of the historical places inside this park. We found a horse stable. Horse Stable- one of its kind discovered in Delhi, situated in front of the garden known as Nazir ka Bagh ( Bagh-e-Nazir) and belongs to the Mughal period. For many years the structure was partly buried in the silt and after its removal, this unique structure has now been exposed.
After this place, now we were going towards Rajon ki Baoli, but Before that we found an abandoned Mosque and a tomb. It is under-construction, guard was getting his lunch. There was a well between the tomb and Mosque. We climbed on the top of the tomb and found nothing. Have you ever wondered about the historical place with no history? Maybe, so many tombs has been found by the Archaeologists, that is why it is known as Mehrauli Archaeological Park. People are living inside this historical place, local one. Nobody cares about the place as there are so many plants that has covered these monuments.
While walking towards another monument, we found a bone and now we were trying to guess the root of this bone like an archaeologist. There was one Hindu and one Muslim under the same tree, who were busy in cursing their lives. Now we are walking, and some women are taking wood, a boy is busy with his phone, someone is getting his smoke. Now, this place is going deeper and deeper like a haunted place. Once again, another abandoned tomb. We entered this place and there is no guard at all, there is dirt and garbage everywhere, people have painted the walls with the name of their lovers or enemies whatever. Khazan lost his hope with the government and showing his helplessness by cursing them. Almost every tomb and Mosque has same design in this place. We used the small narrow stairs to climb on the roof of a tomb, and we got a glimpse of Qutub Minar.
Now, Khazan found another stairs, downward this time, which lead us towards the Rajon ki Baoli.Rajon ki Baoli- The name Rajon Ki Baoli is derived from the 'Rajbirs' or 'Mistris' - the term used for masons. It got its name in early 20th century because of the masons that moved in permanently into the area. The enclosure of Rajon Ki Baoli also includes a mosque and a tomb.It was commissioned by Daulat Khan in 1506 CE, an administrator of the Lodi dynasty of the Delhi Sultanate. It was disgusting place, people are using this place to take the drugs. This place has been abandoned for a long time, as you can smell the stink and the floor is not clearly visible. The Bats are living at this place. One of the Guards asked us ," Arre bhai, aap andar kaise ghus gye?" I replied, " Picche masjid ki chhat se niche ki aur siddhiyan hai, whi se!" He countered and asked us to leave this place immediately with a line,"Arre Mahol Khraab hai, Jaldi se nikal jao yha se!'
We were confused about the words of the Guard about Khraab Mahol. Anyway, we exited the place and now visited another abandoned tomb and mosque. The Guard asked us to keep our mobile phones in the bag. He was busy with the lunch and another one was busy with his song. There was no information about this place again. Surprisingly, this tomb has so many graves than any other tomb so far, more than 10 at one place. Now exited this place and again entered another abandoned place.
Now there was an exit gate in front of us. But Khazan asked me to visit some more monuments inside this park. Unfortunately, there was too much depth and google map was not showing the location, so we exited this park and reached Mehrauli Bus Depot. Khazan bought one cold drink , which was not cold at all. Now we were walking again with another hope of other monument. Surprisingly, there was a tomb in front of us. And we were not aware of the name also. So we took a quick round and left this place. Later on, we got to know, that this place is known as Bhul Bhulaiya.
Now we were hungry, and entered a Dhaba. Garmi se behaal, acche Khaane ki talaas mein. We checked out the menu, and ordered Dal, 3 Tawa Roti and 3 Tandoori Raoti and 1 Raita. Khazan returned 2 Tawa Roti.Raita was not good as per it's value. Food didn't brought us any good luck in the matter of justification between taste and price. Now we were sitting in front of a tomb which has been turned into a office. And decided to visit the Jahaz Mahal, which was 3.5 km away from this location. Now we were using washroom, and someone was talking about Bhul Bhulaiya, and we got about the name of that place.
We are walking in the narrow lanes of Mehrauli. It has so many shops and markets, almost every kind of shop. There is poor road like our location in the mid way. We reached Jahaz Mahal. It's front gate was locked, also the back one. We sat under a tree and were talking about this place, why it is called as Jahaz Mahal. We googled it and found it. Jahaz Mahal- Known as Jahaz Mahal , because its reflection in the surrounding looked like a ship floating on a lake, built during Lodi Dynasty period (1452-1526) as a pleasure resort. The reason behind building this Jahaz Mahal was to provide transit accomodation as a resort(sarai) to the large number of pilgrims from Afghanistan, Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Morocco and Turkey who came to Delhi to visit the many Muslim shrines. And there was Hauz-i-Shamsi , which is a water storage built by Iltutmish of the slave dynasty in 1230 CE, at a location revealed to him in a dream by the Islamic Prophet Mohammad. And the tomb is the water tank is known as Abdul Haqq Dehlavi.
We are walking and discussing about the pitiful conditions of the visited historical places. On our way, we found Balbans Tomb Gate, which was closed due to non-maintenance. And now Google Maps was asking us to take a U-turn from a distance of 2.5 km, instead of crossing the road. Now we entered a lane which lead us towards a park, in search of Qila Rai Pithora. We asked an uncle about the way, and he told us that the people are using this place to take rest only and there is nothing interesting about this place. Now we were roaming in a jungle with our guide, Google Maps. Khazan found a perfect background for a photo. This place had so many greenery. It was covered with the nature and the voices of birds. I was quite afraid of the snakes, so walking carefully with every single step. There was a tree, we were curious to know about it, failed. We asked so many strangers about the fort. No one knew about it. Even Google Maps was lying about the location. After walking for almost 3-4 km, we took our own guess and found a little fort type location. We thought that we found the fort. Khazan started to make the video and i had doubt somewhere, so I asked Khazan about the signboard of this location, which was not there, so we have not found out the exact fort yet. Now we got tired and sat for a moment. When one of the boys told us that we have to cross a way to get the way of the Fort. Again we were confused, and still unaware of it. Finally, Khazan found it and it was mere a wall.Qila Rai Pithora- Also known as Lal Kot, was constructed in the reign of Anangpal Tomar between 1052-1060 CE.It was created by Prithviraj Chauhan. Built by the greatest Chauhan ruler Prithviraj Chauhan III, this landmark is also known as the first Red Fort of Delhi and one of the seven ancient cities of Delhi. Prithviraj Chauhan is credited to have extended the citadel of Lal Kot, and constructed huge ramparts and moats around it. The city derived its name from the title of Prithviraj Chauhan himself and thus came to be known as Qila Rai Pithora, with Lal Kot as its southwestern base. At present the ruins of Qila Rai Pithora have been conserved in a 20-acre DDA Conservation Park at Mehrauli. The park has an 18-foot high statue of Prithviraj Chauhan and a library. It is being developed as a tourist destination housing an interesting museum and artefacts belonging to the medieval period. Khazan heard the noise of a snake and asked to move on from this place.
So we reached Karol Bagh Metro station around 5:30 PM. It was not new for me, as i had visited Karol Bagh market many a times. Now we were looking for the market to buy that Xbox remote. Before that, we bought MacDonalds's icecream. Now we were about to enter the Gaffar Market. Most of the shops were related to the mobile accessories, so we asked someone about the gaming market. Somebody told us to visit the last street. Funnily, it was the exit of market. Again we asked someone, then again. And finally, we found a shop. We asked them about the remote, and the price was Rs.5200. I was shocked as i have never purchased any remote for playstation. But there was some problem with the remote as it lacks the wireless function. We visited another shop, which was adjacent to the previous one. Now, the shopkeeper was quite calm and his response was like an adamant mindset, he got stuck with Rs. 4500 price for the remote. We agreed to buy this one, got two pairs of the remote. Now Khazan was about to make the payment, but there was some server error, and he didn't have any money in other account. So he asked someone to send the money. Meanwhile, I was looking at the customers, who were ready to pay almost 1 lakh rupees for the playstation, and they made the payment within 20 minutes, no bargaining effort, ameer log! aur ek aunty ne apne bccho ko khuli chhut de di ki beta jo tujhe lena h na le le, ye le le na, nye wala game aaya h latest version, le le 5-6. Khazan bought a side bag for the vlog. It was better than the last Chandni Chowk's bag.
After getting the remote, we visited the Burger King. As usual, i took my chicken burger. Khazan has become pure vegetarian, so he took a veg paneer burger. It was the first time, when we both were not eating the Chicken burger. Khazan told me about a love act, that happened here, last year. Now we were going towards the home. The weather has become quite sexy, mocked our today's journey in the heat of 40 Degree temperature. Khazan jumped down at Chhapan Bhog to give the remote. I reached at home around 9:15 pm.
